plötsligt tystnar fågelsången utanför fönstret i sal 4:a på avd 83 Halmstads sjukhus.

Dawn is breaking on Thursday, July 3rd, the night begins to turn into morning as time is getting close to half past three, and suddenly the birds stop singing outside the window in Room 4 at Dept. 83 in Halmstad Hospital. The sound of heavily breathing Annette Engdahl is still heard but not as strongly as earlier in the night. The three of us in the room begin to move restlessly and we are constantly looking at our dear Annette. Is she going to let go now, and let the cancer beat her?
Her breathing slowly fades away and the next breath lingers. And then, a small breath, and now we are waiting for the next.
Outside the window you can hear the seagulls starting to come to life as our dear Annette has left this life for something else, somewhere else. We are sitting beside her bed still with the tears falling from our eyes. WHY, WHY...
My wife Annette celebrated her 54th birthday a few days before she passed away. She fought bravely against this terrible disease, cancer, for almost two years but in the end the cancer won.
For a number of years Annette and I have supported the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund. We have in different ways used motor sport and its history to get donations to the fund. We wanted to give a contribution that can help ensure that this awful disease is stopped forever.
Her next breath is to ask you, our friends in motor sports and in our private lives, to make an effort to help the fund, so that our children will not be as affected by this terrible disease, cancer.

You can contribute by going to: http://www.barncancerfonden.se/15820/
Surely, you can spare SEK 20 and show your compassion. It’s not the size of your contribution that matters, but that you try to do anything at all.
